What It’s Really Like Working as a Front End Web Developer at iNET Web

An Inside Look From an Actual iNET Employee

Let's start from the premise you've already read some online reviews of iNET Web and are trying to make sense of the wildly different reviews from iNET employees, both past and present.

The simple truth: It’s like any other business. Some people thrive here, some don’t. The ones who do well and stick around say good things about us, the ones who don’t write up venomous reviews about how awful it is here.

What’s Good About Working at iNET Web?

Opportunity. For anyone looking for work as a front end developer in the Milwaukee area, iNET Web is a gold mine of opportunity. We have clients of all types, both large and small. One week you may be working on a business that sells fruits and nuts, and the next week you may be building a site for one of Milwaukee's top law firms.

Sanity. Wondering about the workload and deadlines? In a word: Reasonable. Everyone has their own accounts to work on, and the load is fairly distributed. Unlike some places, deadlines here are always do-able. No one is ever running around pulling their hair out or staying until 2am to make a deadline. This speaks volumes about both the caliber of people working here and the planning that goes into every project.

Autonomy. As a front end developer at iNET Web, you’ll have greater autonomy than at most web development firms. There’s no one looking over your shoulder every 20 minutes here. You have the authority to make decisions and solve problems as you see fit. If you need help, though, or just want a second opinion on something, you’ve got it.

Credibility. iNET Web has been around for over 20 years and built thousands of successful, profit-generating websites for clients throughout Wisconsin (and a few other states, as well). If you want to work with people committed to building fast-loading, great looking, custom-designed sites, you can’t do better than iNET.

Mobility. Prove yourself here and you’ll advance quickly – both in responsibilities delegated to you and in pay. There’s also the opportunity to make a lateral move into back end web development, design, or even SEO/Copy, if that’s your thing.

Location. If you’re coming from a hip downtown area or upscale suburb, Waukesha might seem a bit déclassé, but there’s a great little downtown area, traffic is bearable and there's plenty of free parking at our office. Wondering what all the big Les Paul guitar sculptures are about? Waukesha is the hometown of Lester Polfuss (aka “Les Paul.”)

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I work from home?

A: No. You really need to be here to be in the loop. We're moving too fast and have too much work going on to have people out of the building on a regular basis. And why would you want to work away from all these great people, anyway?

Q: Mac or PC?

A: PC

Q: What is the work space like?

A: Everyone at iNET has a cubicle they can personalize. If you need two monitors, you’ll get two monitors. If you want a standing desk so you can stand while you work, we’ll make it happen. There’s enough room to do your job, but if you have a big collection of bobble heads you’ll need to pick a favorite and leave the rest at home.

Q: Does iNET hire part-time web developers?

A: No, but we wouldn’t rule it out entirely. It all depends on the circumstances.

Q: Is there overtime pay?

A: We obey the law, so yes. If you're up to speed and willing to put in extra hours for the greater good of the company and yourself, heck yeah, we welcome that. We'll even supply a sleeping bag, if you like.

Q: Is iNET amenable to flexible scheduling?

A: We’re a family company, so we understand priorities when it comes to childcare, medical appointments, and other obligations. Tell us what you need and we will do our best to work something out.

Q: How much free time will I have?

A: iNET is always working on new projects, so when you finish one assignment there’s always something new to get started on. You won’t get bored twiddling your thumbs waiting for the next project to come down the pipeline. If this bothers you, you’re probably more interested in wasting time than actually advancing your career.

Q: Will I need to learn a new program every other week?

A:  No. We’re not into jumping on every software bandwagon that comes along. There may be some updates you’ll need to get fluent with, though.

Q: Someone online said the bathroom is cold and the coffee is mediocre. Really?

A: Yeah, we saw Wendy Whiner's review. Seriously, if you spend enough time in the bathroom to get frostbite, iNET Web probably isn’t a good place for you. And if you’re a coffee snob, there’s a Starbucks down the road.

Creative Genius Marketing® - CreativeGeniusMarketing.com

Creative is an intangible. There aren’t many great creatives in radio. In branding there are less. In strategizing there are even less. Most companies have no BRAND. The products and services are amazing, the businesses are often brilliant. There is just nothing for consumers to grab and buckle themselves into. The web sites are also no influence in creating the brand, brand strategy, ad concept or ads.

iNET creative has dozens of mind traps and hooks. Duplicitous meanings and meanings left for the listener to decipher or wonder at. While these traps can get a listener stuck in a thought midstream over two, three, twenty exposures they force acceptance of the message and action. When they discover the hidden hooks listeners feel like insiders, part of the story and part of the brand.
