In at the ground level, James set out selling, processing orders, building computers, servicing and supporting customers as a one man operation. James looked for growing Wisconsin communities with income levels able to support a computer/technology store. In 1988 there were no online stores or mass production computer houses. After a brief trial balloon location in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin (James' home town) James opened his iNET retail personal computer store in a one thousand square foot storefront at Hwy 18 and Kossow Road in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
In the beginning, iNET had customers waiting in line, who, hearing one of the few people working at iNET Computers describe a home computer to the customer ahead in line immediately demanded, "One just like that," and handing over payment. In the personal computer BOOM, if you could get the components to make up a computer, you had people waiting to buy them.
In 1995, Kurt Sonnenburg left GE Medical Systems to come in as an iNET computer sales professional. Kurt quickly was recognized as a key player in the bottom line at iNET. Kurt became a business manager contributing to the sales, management and marketing of iNET. James named Kurt President of Operations as reward for tireless work and exceptional productivity in 1998. Kurt remains in that position to this day.
In 2000, Steven Libbey left a family business he managed for fourteen years to come on board with the iNET team. At this time, the big box national computer companies were starting to dominate the computer industry. iNET was stuck in a static position.
Steven brought a new level of management coupled with a marketing platform developed from the perspective of absolute 100% customer satisfaction and a, "We will beat all competitors at every level," attitude to iNET. Since 2000, iNET has grown from 7 to 30 full time positions.
